Q: I’ve always had our photos done at a “Big Box” photography studio and have never done a custom photography session before. What should I expect?
A: Well, this is actually a big question and I’d love to be able to provide you with more information in either an email or over the phone. But, one of the biggest differences you are going to experience is the fact that your custom photography session with KarenLeslie Photography is built around you and your family. Expect it to be more comfortable and fun than what you’ve previously experienced. Expect the kids to leave saying they had a great time and wanted to do it again! Expect your husband to say it was no where near as bad as he thought it would be.
Q: What if we book a session with you and it rains on the day of our session?
A: While that does occasionally happen, if we cannot go through with the session because of weather we’ll pick another day/time that is mutually convenient.
Q: How can I make sure my family has a great experience?
A: Well-rested, well-fed kids are ready to play and have fun! We’ll make sure your shoot falls during a time when your children won’t be hungry for dinner or groggy from a nap. If they feel like the photoshoot is part of their natural playtime, your images will burst with personality!
And you know how when Grandma is coming to visit, you talk about it all week with the kids, so when the grand moment arrives, the kids are bursting with excitement? We encourage you to treat your photoshoot the same way. Enthusiastically describe the activities in the days leading up to the session. If your kids see you looking forward to our session, chances are that they will too.
Q: I’m interested in doing a session at my house, but I’m not sure it’s “photo ready.”
A: Don’t worry. Every house is photo ready. There is a lot we can move and “hide” when we do a session at your home. I love doing sessions at a client’s home because its typically where they feel most comfortable and that will come across in the photographs.
Q: If we are interested in doing a series of photoshoots during the year (maybe to document a baby’s first year, or just to simply capture your family during an extended length of time), do you offer discounts on multiple sessions?
A: There are a couple of different things that we could do if you were interested in multiple sessions in a year. First, Basic Sessions are perfect for that purpose. Its a short amount of time at a lower price point. Next, returning clients always receive a price break on Classic Sessions.
Q: We are interested in a family session and want to include our dog, is that ok?
A: Not only is it ok, but it is recommended! Pets are definitely part of the family and I would love to have them as part of your photo session.
Q: How many pictures do you take in a session? Will we get to see them all?
A: This is a very popular question. Depending on the session, I’ll take anywhere between 100-200 images. Because of the nature of digital photography, I take that many so that I have more options in the final edit process to make sure that expressions are right, people are looking, etc. After your session, I cull through all of the images and pick the absolutely best-of-the-best and fully edit those images in color & black and white to show to you. The resulting number of images can be anywhere between 15 (for basic sessions) to 30 (for classic or signature sessions).
