Bloom Project 52 :: 001

Over the next 52 weeks I’d like to share some personal work with you.  I’ve joined with 15 other photographers from around the world in a creative photography project.  I’m calling it Project 52 and what it is is a weekly creative exercise using photography.  Every week, our group receives a “theme” and we are tasked with interpreting and representing that theme through our photography.  Here’s the cool part: in addition to showing our own work on our blogs, we are also each linking to another member of the group.  By “following” all the links,  you’ll be able to experience what each of us creates for that week.  Cool, huh?

This is the first week and our theme was “Inspire”.  I loved this theme because I try to use the beginning of every year to inspire myself creatively.   After the craziness of the Fall portrait season is done, I feel like I can take a breath and start to be creative … for me.  Sometimes that means picking up my camera and being creative, but a lot of the time it really means diving into other creative pursuits.  It is this time of year that I get the urge to create.  Lately I’ve been thinking about sewing projects (I can sew just enough to be dangerous) and spending time at the fabric store drinking in all the delicious textures, patterns and colors.  I’ve also been creating some new marketing materials for my business.  Again, creative juices dripping over colors and patterns and designs. I’ve also had the urge to paint recently, and I don’t mean painting on canvas.  My daughter is teetering on the verge of being ready to move from nursery to toddler room and I really want to celebrate by giving her a whole new look.  Soon I’ll be fawning over paint swatches.  Yum!

Color plays a big part of my creative inspiration.  I love color.  So I decided to use color as my first Project 52 photograph.  Yummy, inspiring color….
